Problem : Cannot connect to internet after heavy lightning ( laptop)

Venue : Pantai Hill Park, Bangsar, KL
1 . Modem (Billion) supplied by Tmnet. PWR, SYS, LAN, ADSL and PPP.
LAN and
PPP did not power up. The rest have their lights stable.
2 . Report to Streamyx. They sent a technician with a new modem but unable
to make a connection. He blamed the laptop for the problem. Advised to
check its network card. 17/04/2008
3 . I try to connect the laptop to internet using PSS Bangsar's modem (Billion).
It worked and thus confirming that its network card is not the problem.
4 . 22/04/2008 - Went to Shuhaimi's place in Bangsar. On Aztech wireless
router. All lights lit up - pwr, sys, lan ,adsl and internet. On laptop and
open browser. Voila! Internet connected !
Conclusions : The guys at streamyx do not know their job. The problem lies
with their system/switch box/switch centre. They took the easy
way out by blaming our laptop for the unavailable internet
connection.
26 August 2008 - Internet connection suddenly dropped when surfing.11:15am, Tuesday - Windows Server
1 .
PPP - no lights visible.
ADSL - lights blinking.
2 . Checked wiring connection, restart PC, restart modem(Billion), splitter
- same result.
3 . Called Streamyx at 1-300-88-9515, 11:20am. Have the username,
account holder's name or number ready for confirmation.
The operator gave me a report no. and asked to call back on thursday
if still inactive.
4 . 2:30pm - As I was fiddling with the modem's network cable (unplugging it
and plugging it back), when suddenly there was steady lights at
ADSL and
PPP. I opened Firefox and was back online.
5 . Resolved.
Conclusions : I guess the guys at streamyx had fixed the problem at their site.
