Nowadays there is a big risk involved immediately after you go online . Your
PCs are vulnerable to all kinds of attack from hackers who will infected your
PCs with spywares, malwares and viruses. These attacks will considerably
slow down your PCs performance to around 40% to 50%. There are a few
security measures that you can adopt to block these annoying intrusions.
Listed below are the steps that I myself used personally :
- Install only one anti-virus software, update it weekly and after updating do a
full scan.AVG from Grisoft is a good free anti-virus.
- Install two or three anti-spyware, update weekly and do a full scan
Ex : Ad Adware 7, ad-square, Spybot Search n Destroy,
- Install CCleaner to get rid of unnecessary files that will clog and fragment
your hard disk
- Install Spyware Blaster and update weekly. This application does not scan,
it merely blocks malicious spywares and malwares
- Don't download anything that is unnecessary and without knowing its true source
- Create a Limited Account to do your surfing to limit damage to your main
system files
- Install a Firewall software to block and monitor incoming and outgoing traffic
- Raise your browser's security level
- Do not install more than two anti-virus or firewalls cause they might conflict
with each other and freeze your computer (sluggish / slow)
